Bays ROCKPORT, Ind. Walter E. Bays, 83, of Rockport, Indiana, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020. Walter had served in the U.S.

Air Force and was retired from Hahn Industry in Owensboro. Walter attended Revival Center Church in Grandview, Indiana. Survivors include his children, Kenneth E. Scales and Gary L. Scales; and his sister, Lucille Howell.

garysfuneralhome.net. Nina Delores Mayo ROCKPORT, Ind. Nina Delores Mayo, 84, of Rockport, Indiana, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at The Waters of Princeton, Indiana. Nina was a quality control supervisor at General Electric in Owensboro, where she retired after 36 years.

Nina was a member of Free Zion Baptist Church in Rockport. Survivors include her children, William Albert Mayo, Angela Jean Payne and Teresa Marie HarBison; and a sister, Sheldona Kempf. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Alan Brock and Pastor Robert Carr officiating. Burial will follow at James Parker Cemetery in Hatfield, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Curtis Stephen Bridgmon Curtis Stephen Bridgmon, 70, born April 8, 1950, in Indianapolis, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, in Owensboro. He was the son of Guyman Bridgmon and Norma Farmer Bridgmon, both deceased. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr.

Shannon Bridgmon Rinaldo, on July 27, 2020; a brother, Fredrick Bridgmon; and granddaughter, Jessica Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Fabyan Velotta Bridgmon; son, Steve Bridgmon of Nashville; stepchildren, Kevin (Terri) Murphy, Danny Murphy, both of Owensboro, and Christina (Adam) Huff of Whitesville; grandsons, Aidan Rinaldo of Lubbock, Texas, Nathan Huff of Lexington, Landon Huff and Nolan Huff of Whitesville; granddaughter, Amanda Bartos of Owensboro; great-grand- children, Tryistan, Justice, Colton, Judge and Mashayla; brother, Mike (Sherry) Bridgmon; and several nieces and nephews. He was of the Baptist faith and a 1968 graduate of Fordsville High School. He was retired from National Southwire Aluminum of 30 years. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, loved NASCAR, playing golf and watching his grandsons play basketball.

He was a longtime track announcer at both Windy Hollow and Kentucky Motor speedways. He was emcee for many events over the years, including Street Legends Car Club. He hosted the Talk show, which broadcast on WBIO radio. He will be missed greatly by all of his friends and family. A private service will be held at 2 p.m.

Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home, Whitesville. Burial will be private in Adaburg Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

at his home. Mr. Coakley was born Aug. 5, 1926, in McLean County, one of nine children born to Delbert and Clemmie Coakley. He was a carpenter, retired from TVA.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. During his time in the Army, which began in 1944, he was stationed in Ft. Hood, California, Seattle and Hawaii. From Hawaii, he went to Saipan Island, the last stop on his journey to the front lines of Okinawa, where U.S.

forces were battling the Imperial Japanese Army. Private Coakley landed in Okinawa in May 1945 as part of the 96th Infantry Division. He was 18 years old. Wounded during this battle, he spent several months recuperating from his injuries. He received a Purple Heart for his injury; and he was awarded a Bronze Star for saving a fellow soldier on the battlefield.

He was honorably discharged in 1946, having attained the rank of Corporal. He was preceded in death by his son, Franklin Coakley. He is survived by his son, Dennis Coakley of St. Joseph, Illinois; daughter Patricia A. Tester of Champaign, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and brothers R.C.

Coakley and Gerald Coakley, both of Sacramento. There will be a drive-through visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. The visitation will be followed by a graveside service at Rosewood Methodist Cemetery in Rosewood.
